Leeds Castle visitors can now get a tour of the historic grounds with a futuristic twist.

Segways, which are two wheeled motorised machines that move depending on how much the pressure you put on them, can now be used to ride around the Maidstone site.

The idea's to let people see parts of the grounds you would struggle to get to by foot.

Tour organiser and Southern Segway managing director Nick Thurston says: "It takes people between thirty seconds and two minutes to get the basics. It's very simple and intuitive. Once we've given people the period to acclimatise it's amazing."

"You're still on the castle estate but we take you on a leisurely tour in a big zig-zag up into the meadows. You end up with a view quite high up looking down onto the castle".

A tour taking around thirty-five to forty-five minutes costs £15.00.
