Virgin Media broadband down affecting internet service for thousands including in Kent

Virgin Media are frantically scrambling to get services back online after an outage hit thousands of homes across the country, including in Kent.

The internet provider said at 8.30pm: "We’re investigating an intermittent broadband issue where connectivity is interrupted for a short period of time before being restored. We’re urgently looking into the problem and working flat out to fix it."

A post on its website added: "We know how frustrating this is and we apologise."

According to a map of where issues are being reported Walderslade is particularly badly impacted while there are also problems in Maidstone, Tonbridge, Gravesend and Margate.

A Virgin Media spokesman said:“An intermittent broadband issue that started yesterday evening was fixed in the early hours of this morning. This was not caused by increased usage or a lack of capacity. We know how frustrating this was for customers and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

People have still been reporting some issues this morning.
