A MAN walked into an elderly woman's home and stole her handbag while she was getting him a glass of water.

The 75 year-old woman was sitting in her flat in Rolfe Lane, New Romney, at 6pm on Friday when the man came in through her unlocked front door. He said

he had knocked and had come to check her premises. He said he had permission from the warden.
