head brewer talking about the bumper crop

It's been a bad year for many businesses in the county but it's
a great year for beer.

That's according to local brewers Shepherd Neame, which is
expecting to harvest a bumper crop thanks to the perfect weather
conditions.

A more bitter and flavoursome hop is produced as a result of the
spring rains and summer sunshine we've been having. For brewers
that's good news because it means less is needed for brewing.

David Holmes, head brewer at the 300-year-old Faversham company,
said: "It's the warm climate and fertile, chalk-drained clay soil
that makes Kent such a perfect environment for producing beer."

So, real ale enthusiasts in Kent can expect a particularly
quality and flavoursome beer this year.
