More on KentOnline
It was National Pizza Day last week and on a mission to find the best place to grab a slice in Kent we asked the people who know best.
While Fireaway and Pizza Hut were popular, it was the local ones that stood out from the crowd. Here are your favourites...
Papà Bianco
Papà Bianco was the top-voted pizza place in the county by our readers.
It is located at Standard Quay, in Faversham, and sells fresh pizza for both dine-in and takeaway.
Pizza prices range from £8.50 for a Margherita and go up to £12.50 for their 'Weekly Special', which is where the team come up with a different pizza each week.
It has a rating of four-point-five on Trip Advisor, with one happy customer writing: "Absolutely love this place, especially on a Wednesday when they play live music!
"Pizza's are always great and love the weekly specials! Also excellent value for money and love the biscoff cheesecake!"
Julius Caesar
Julius Caesar Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria is on Gravesend high street, and claims to sell the "best" authentic Italian cuisine.
Pizzas start from £10.50 and go up to £13.95, and they also have pasta and other main course options.
They also offer Italian wines and liqueurs, as well as the usual alcoholic beverages and soft drinks.
It has over 500 five-star reviews, with one saying: "This is an amazing restaurant with friendly and attentive staff, nothing is too much trouble.
"The food is always presented beautifully and tastes phenomenal."
The Pizza Joint
The Pizza Joint in Sittingbourne seemed to be well-loved by our readers, despite only having opened at the end of last year.
Owner Gurpreet Rai previously managed Papa John's, taking over after a bad hygiene rating, and managed to get the rating up to five stars in less than four months.
The restaurant is open from 11am-11pm, seven days a week, and food is available for takeaway and delivery.
They also have a loyalty scheme, where you get 10 point for every £25 you spent on the website.
Once you have 100 points you can get a £10 discount off your online basket.
Reviewers have praised the restaurant for being tasty, with friendly staff and lots of choice.
Vesuvius Restaurant
Vesuvius Restaurant is an Italian family-run restaurant on Lower Stone Street in Maidstone.
It prides itself on offering "some of the most authentic and traditional delights that the Italian cuisine has to offer."
There are 14 different pizza options to pick from, and prices start from £9.50 and go up to £13.95.
It has a four-point-five rating on Trip Advisor, with one review saying that it "never disappoints".
Another person wrote: "Lovely atmosphere and a beautifully authentic Italian meal, beats any chain Italian restaurant.
"Staff are welcoming and friendly, definitely recommend."
We visited the restaurant in August last year, and our reporter was "blown away" by the food, drink, decor and staff.
He said that it was a perfect insight into some Italian classics, and that he could have forgotten he was in Maidstone and not on the streets of Naples.
Square Peg Detroit Pizza
Square Peg Detroit Pizza only opened last month in Sun Street, Canterbury, but seems to have been well-received so far.
Detroit-style pizzas are known for their rectangular shape and thick, crispy cheesy crusts, and were created by pizzeria owners Gus and Anna Guerra in 1946.
It already has over 40 reviews on Trip Advisor, with one saying: "We had a delivery from Square Peg and it totally lived up to expectations.
"It was difficult to pick one to order as there were so many amazing flavour combinations to pick, we ended up getting several and sharing.
"The portions were generous and the pizza was just delicious - totally different to that of 'regular pizza', far more superior!
"Pizzas were also lovely and hot when they arrived too."
