Emergency services were called to Maypole Airfield near Herne Bay this afternoon after an aircraft crashed.

The drama unfolded when the plane overshot the runway at about 3.50pm.

Three fire engines arrived at the Maypole Road aerodrome, at Hoath, as a precaution.

A woman was out of the plane before the crews arrived and the aircraft was not on fire.

South East Coast Ambulance Service said crews were stood down on their way to the airfield.

Kent Police said officers were also at the scene.
