This was the dramatic scene following a three-car accident that left at least one victim trapped.

The accident happened on the A28 at Great Chart, near Ashford, just after 6pm on Wednesday.

Firefighters say at least one woman was trapped in one of the cars and had to be cut free.

She was taken to hospital by ambulance but was not thought to be seriously injured.

Neighbour Iain McKeown said: “I heard the impact and went outside to see what had happened.

“The woman who was cut free was elderly. I tried to help by directing traffic.”
