Jane Sargeant is due to stand trial in July at Maidstone Crown Court

A WOMAN denied a serious wounding charge when she appeared at Maidstone Crown Court today.

Jane Sargeant had been accused of attempting to murder Sally-Ann Jemmett but was only asked to enter a plea to wounding with intent.

Sargeant, of Corkwell Street, Chatham, will stand trial on July 11. She is alleged to have stabbed Miss Jemmett at a flat in Brook Road, Faversham, on New Year’s Day. The trial is expected to last four to five days.

Miss Jemmett suffered serious injuries and her condition at Kent and Canterbury Hospital was at first described as “very poorly”.
