Yellow weather warning for Kent: Met Office forecasters predict ice

Another yellow warning for ice has been issued by Met Office forecasters for this afternoon.

The warning came into force at 1pm today and is set to last until 11am tomorrow.

Forecasters say there will be icy stretches across the county and surfaces will be slippery.

Kent's gritters will be out later treating the main routes and there is also a chance of more rains showers.

Yesterday's snow predictions saw Kent largely avoided any severe downfalls overnight.

Only parts of the county had a light dusting of snow but commuters still faced disruption as Southeastern ran their winter weather timetable today.

South East 4x4 Response, a team of highly skilled volunteers, is also ready to rescue motorists who could become trapped.

There were patches of snow which settled in parts of Medway yesterday and many areas like Gravesend experienced snowfall but nothing settled due to the wet conditions.

Cold temperatures are expected to remain in place over the weekend, and Medway Council has issued its emergency protocol to protect homeless people.
