Young woman killed in Thanet Way crash

A 19-year-old woman driver from Herne Bay died after a crash on the A299 Thanet Way.

A 21-year-old man also suffered minor injuries in the crash, which happened at around 11.15am Saturday on the coastbound carriageway between Beltinge and St Nicholas at Wade.

They were travelling in the only vehicle involved.

Firefighters went to the scene but a member of the public had managed to get the two casualties out of the car by the time crews arrived.

The Kent Air Ambulance was also called and took them to hospital - but the woman later died.

The road was closed Herne Bay and St Nicholas at Wade and Herne Bay after the crash. It reopened at around 5pm.
