A YOUNG woman was subjected to a two-hour ordeal when she was kidnapped and sexually assaulted at knifepoint.

Police believe witnesses to the start of the incident, which took place in the early hours of Sunday, may have thought the victim and her attacker were a couple having an argument in the street.

The 21-year-old woman was approached by a man at about 1am, on Sunday, as she walked along Luton Road, Chatham.

The man threatened her with a knife and after an argument, bundled the women into the back of his car.

He then drove her to a secluded spot at Capstone Country Park, two miles away, where he sexually assaulted her.

No description of the man has been released, but it is believed he drove a white car.

Police carried out a detailed search at the country park in Capstone Road, Gillingham. The cafe area was cordoned off for most of Sunday and parts of the car park shut while forensic teams combed the grounds for clues.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Medway Police on 01634 792492 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
