The Medway School of Pharmacy's Doctors Vadim Sumbayev and Bernhard Gibbs, along with Professor Yuri Ushkaryov, have discovered that leukaemia cells possess a novel biochemical pathway, which helps them avoid the human body’s own anti-cancer immune defences.
