Will it be possible to be carbon-free by 2050?

Green campaigners in Kent have welcomed plans from the government to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to zero by 2050. It comes as Kent County Council declared a climate change emergency last month after being accused of letting down the younger generation. However, some fear that this target is too little too late and impossible to achieve. Will it be possible to be carbon-free by 2050?
