A man has died following a crash on the A229 at Blue Bell Hill

A man has died after his car flipped over on a main road.

The incident happened on the A229 Maidstone bound carriageway leading to Blue Bell Hill.

Fire crews from Strood and Rochester, who attended the incident, confirmed it was a single vehicle collision with only the driver in the car.

They were called to the A229 at 12.55am to find a vehicle flipped on its roof in the road.

The fire fighters said paramedics pronounced the driver dead at the scene.

Police officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit attended and are carrying out inquiries into the circumstances.

Spokesman Steve Knight said: "Police were called at 12.50am on Saturday 25 May 2019 after a car overturned on the Maidstone-bound carriageway of the A229 Blue Bell Hill.

"One man suffered serious injuries in the incident.

"The carriageway was closed until about 9am."

Police have now launched an appeal for information.
