PD Clay praised on Twitter after finding drugs concealed in car abandoned on St Catherine's Road, Maidstone

A man has been arrested after a police dog sniffed out a drugs stash concealed behind a car radio.

PD Clay has received aplaws on social media after finding the cannabis stash in the abandoned vehicle in St Catherine's Road, Maidstone, on Saturday evening.

Soon after, the suspect, was found and arrested on suspicion of drugs supply offences, dangerous driving, failing to stop for police and driving without insurance. He has been released on investigation.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: "At around 6.50pm on Saturday 8 August 2020, a vehicle failed to stop for police when requested to do so at a location in Northumberland Road, Maidstone.

"The vehicle was pursued before it was found abandoned in St Catherine’s Road. When searched a quantity of cannabis was found concealed in the centre console.

"At 7.20pm officers located a suspect in Cloverdale Avenue. He was arrested on suspicion of drugs supply offences, dangerous driving, failing to stop for police and driving without insurance.

"Aged 26 and from Chatham, the man was later released under investigation."
