Salts Lane will close for repairs to Loose Viaduct

Salts Lane in Loose will be closed to through traffic during the daytime for five days starting on Monday (October 21).

The closure between 9.30am and 3.30pm is to enable repairs to be carried out to the Loose Viaduct that carries the A229 traffic overhead.

The viaduct was designed by Thomas Telford and built in 1830 to provide a bypass for the village so that traffic travelling from Maidstone to Hastings did not have to negotiate the steep Old Loose Hill.

Traffic on the A229 will be unaffected by the closure.
