On Wednesday, 33-year-old Hamdi Braeik, of Hart Street, Maidstone, was arrested.

The Crown Prosecution Service later authorised a charge of attempted murder against Mr Braeik.

He appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court today where he was remanded to a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court in July.

A 39-year-old local man, who was detained on Tuesday, has been bailed to return to the police station on June 28, pending further investigation.

Officers are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the assault, or anyone with private CCTV or dashcam footage that may assist the investigation, to contact the appeal line.
