A KENT woman who bludgeoned her husband to death with an axe could be released from prison in four weeks.

Mother-of-two Wadanahalugeder Chandrasekera, known to her friends as Gina, appeared before a judge at Woolwich Crown Court on Thursday to be sentenced for the manslaughter of her husband, Sarath.

She used an axe from her kitchen cupboard to hit her husband 11 times as he stood outside the family home in Port Close, Weavering, near Maidstone, last October.

Judge Mr Justice Fulford adjourned the case until August 22 to the Old Bailey because he wants new reports compiled on a possible programme for her release from prison.
