The River Medway's Bradley the Seal captured 'waving' at camera while sunbathing in Maidstone

Stunning new pictures have captured the moment playful Bradley the seal is relaxing next to the River Medway.

The mammal, which is female, was first spotted in the river more than a month ago just above Allington Lock on April 2.

More than five weeks on, and several rescue attempts later, she is still enjoying her time in Maidstone waters.

Photographer Jessica Swadling captured Bradley sunbathing on the riverside and appearing to wave at the camera.

British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) director Mark Stevens revealed the organisation is happy for Bradley to remain in the waters for now.

He said: "We are making no attempts at the moment. We're just keeping a watch.

"She seems to be doing okay and people are being respectful, so there's no need to do too much."

Earlier this month Sheila Stone from the BDMLR said: "We have had people there all weekend, even at night, so we are still monitoring him.

"He is very canny and very fat. He is feeding really well but the issue is still public disturbance."

The RSPCA previously said the animal appears in good health and is in no danger in the river but urges onlookers - and their pets - to keep their distance.
