The northbound carriageway was closed from the M20 Junction 7 for Maidstone to Pilgrims Way, the Detling turn-off.

As a result there was congestion on the M20 eastbound to Junction 5 for Aylesford and also congestion back to Maidstone Town Centre.

One lane reopened overnight but the other lane is expected to remain closed throughout today.
