Motorists experienced long delays on Detling Hill after the carriageway was blocked off due to mud on the road for more than two hours.

One lane of the A249 southbound was blocked, between the Kent Showground and Detling, due to a crash.

An earlier mud spillage has been cleared up.

Officers were called at 4.23pm after reports of a two car crash.

No injuries have been reported.

Highways officials later confirmed all lanes reopened at around 6.45pm.
