A road is set to shut again just three months after it was closed for major gas works.
Drivers will not have access to Boxley Road in Maidstone from Monday (October 13) for a fortnight.
The closure is to allow SGN engineers to carry out the next phase of its “essential gas network upgrade project” in the town.
For two weeks, they will be improving old pipes in Boxley Road, working near its junction with Salisbury Road.
Spokesman for the utility company, Dan Brown said: “This is to connect the new gas main and decommission our old metal infrastructure.
“To ensure everyone’s safety, Boxley Road and Salisbury Road will be closed to motorists.
“Signed diversions will be in place for affected road users.”
But, according to traffic site, one.network, a section of Sandling Lane, which adjoins Boxley Road, is also set to shut with works overlapping.
A partial closure will be in place from October 20 for nine days near its junction with Wordsworth Road.
Mr Brown said: “A separate team will be working in Sandling Lane to connect a property to our gas network. This work is unrelated to our gas network upgrade project.
“We recognise roadworks can be frustrating for the community.
“However, we’ve planned for each of these works to be carried out to coincide with the school half-term holiday, when the roads are typically quieter, to help minimise disruption.”
Earlier this year, Boxley Road was closed in April and reopened months later at the end of July, before Penenden Heath Road was subsequently shut.
The works, also carried out by SGN, formed the final phase of a 28-week-long scheme in the Penenden Heath area.
