Car catches light near Sainsbury's, Romney Place, Maidstone

Fire crews have been called to a car fire near Sainsbury's.

Emergency workers were sent to Romney Place at about 3.20pm.

The smouldering car appeared to have caught light near the entrance to the car park for the supermarket.

A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "KFRS was called to Romney Place in Maidstone at 3.22pm to reports of a car well alight.

"One crew attended to put the fire out.

"There were no reported injuries and the cause is not known."

The crews had finished by 3.34pm.
