Maidstone's schoolchildren dress up for World Book Day

Creative kids and their inventive parents have shown off their literary prowess for this year's World Book Day.

Youngsters across the county, including Maidstone, the Weald and Malling boroughs, went above and beyond to perfect the day marking the celebratory event.

World Book Day was introduced in 1995 and has been a tradition with schools up and down the country for the past 24 years.
