Motorists faced delays earlier after a crash on the London-bound carriageway of the M20.

One lane was blocked and traffic was reported to be very slow after the accident and there were tailbacks to Junction 8 near Maidstone, including the slip road leading to the motorway.

The crash happened between junction 8 for Leeds Castle and the Maidstone Services and junction 7 for Maidstone and the A249 Detling Hill.

It involved a lorry and and a car but police say no one was injured.

Martin Very spokesman for police said: "Kent Police was called at 10.49am regarding a collision involving a lorry and a car.

"Patrols and Highways officers attended the scene where no injuries were reported.

"One lane was closed while the officers dealt with the incident and it was reopened at 12.08pm."
