Crash victim Richard Plummer has been reunited with his pregnant girlfriend four months after his near fatal accident.
Indria Arina was at Richard’s bedside in Bali, where the crash happened as he lay in a coma after the accident on July 1, but the reunion last week was the first time the couple had been able to speak.
And the arrival of Indria – 24 weeks pregnant with Richard’s child – has given the 32-year-old Maidstone man a massive boost in his continued fight back from brain injury.
"He recognised me but he doesn’t want to believe it’s me,” she said. “He was overjoyed to see me again.
"He said 'is it really you? - he couldn’t believe I was here. He looked at my tummy and I said 'what are you looking at’ and he said 'my baby’.
Indria will stay with the Plummers for the foreseeable future while Richard continues his recovery.
"I keep believing he’ll be okay but all my friends say I have to be ready for the worst,” she said. “My heart says he’ll get there.”
Although paralysed on one side of his body and often in a confused state, Richard has come a long way since he was read the last rites in a Bali hospital.
A fundraising campaign saw a mystery donor help raise nearly £80,000 to bring Richard home, as his accident happened without insurance.
