Crime squad swoop in county town

AN ADDRESS in Maidstone has been raided by National Crime Squad officers as part of a high profile drug operation.

More than 100 officers took part in synchronised raids on Tuesday in the county town, London, Northamptonshire and Gatwick Airport as part of an operation codenamed Opposition.

Eight people were arrested in connection with suspected drug trafficking from Jamaica.

Officers seized computers, mobile phones and documentation from the homes. No specific details have yet been released about the Maidstone raid.
