Deformed kittens abandoned in street

A PAIR of deformed kittens have been found dumped outside an RSPCA shop. Staff found the two kittens in a box outside the charity's shop in Wheeler Street in Maidstone.

One of them had crippled front legs and the other had a nodding head, which it is unable to control. The deformities are believed to be the result of in-breeding.

The kittens were taken to a vet. Both of them are still alive and being cared for by the RSPCA.

RSPCA spokeswoman Klare Kennet said: "The owner probably couldn't afford to take them to a vet, but they should not have been left outside the shop. They both stand a chance of a good quality life, but they could have died if the staff hadn't spotted them."

Animals should be taken to the RSPCA's Leybourne Animal Centre, in Castle Way. For more details call the centre on 0870 0101851.
