The M20 coastbound carriageway is currently closed with stationary traffic after an accident.

Two lorries were involved in the incident just outside Maidstone between junction 8 A20 Ashford Road for Leeds Castle/Maidstone Services and junction 9 A20 Fougeres Way, for Ashford. There is a tailback to junction 7 at Detling Hill.

The road has been closed since around 6.30pm and some traffic remains trapped within the closure.

There are no details of any injuries at this stage.

A diversion is in place. Drivers should follow the hollow circle diversion symbol via the A20.
