Three fire engines and a height vehicle were sent to the scene and crews wearing breathing apparatus were able to put out the flames and ensure the fire had not spread.

It is believed the fire started by accident when a disposable barbecue was placed in the skip.

No one was hurt in the incident, and the area was made safe by 9.30pm.

A fire service spokesman said: "People are reminded to always make sure a barbecue is cool before trying to move it, to empty spent ashes onto bare garden soil and never to put hot ashes straight into a bin or container."
