Cars used to drive off, now they’re expected to drive through as a disused showroom is set to be taken over by fast food chain McDonald’s.

Developers have bought the former Renault garage on the corner of The Broadway and Barker Road which leads to the Lockmeadow complex.

The Kent Messenger revealed in April that the burger giant was in talks with the former garage owners.

The site has been vacant since August last year when Renault moved to Bircholt Road in Park Wood.

McDonald’s has not yet submitted a planning application to Maidstone council, but a spokesman confirmed the building had now changed hands.

“We are looking at this site and will be in discussion with the developers”.
