Man charged after knife and cannabis seized in Brenchley Gardens, Maidstone

Police cracking down on violent crime have seized a knife and drugs in Maidstone.

Officers from the Community Safety Unit stopped and searched a man in Brenchley Gardens at 3.15pm on Friday, after he was seen acting suspiciously.

James Daniels, 20, of Hughenden Reach, Tovil has been charged with carrying a bladed article in public and possessing cannabis.

District commander ch insp Ray Quiller said: "My officers are proactively patrolling our public spaces at all times of the day and will respond to anybody acting suspiciously in order to protect residents and visitors to Kent's County Town.

"Anybody who unlawfully carries a knife or other weapon should expect to be stopped and arrested."

Daniels will appear at Maidstone Magistrates Court on May 3.

Earlier this month police set up a metal detector to catch people carrying weapons in Brenchley Gardens.
