Eighth arrest made in connection with stabbing of Andre Bent

A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of murder after Andre Bent died in Maidstone High Street last weekend.

The 16-year-old boy from London was also arrested yesterday on suspicion of three attempted murders.

He remains in police custody.

The teen is now the eighth person to be arrested in connection with the incident.

A 46-year-old woman and an 18-year-old-man, both from London, who were arrested on Friday on suspicion of assisting an offender have been released on bail until September 19.

Mr Bent, 21, from Lambeth, south London, died following a disturbance in the High Street, shortly after a performance by London rapper MoStack, real name Montell Daley, at Gallery nightclub.

Four men were subsequently charged with violent disorder, and a fifth man was arrested and bailed on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon and perverting the course of justice.

The investigation into Andre’s death is ongoing and the police still want to hear from anyone who may information about last weekend’s events.

A charity music event to raise money to cover the costs of Mr Bent's funeral has been organised at The Source Bar and tickets are now on sale.
