Air ambulance lands at Mote Park in Maidstone after person hit by car in town centre

A woman was flown to hospita after being hit by a van in the town centre.

The large emergency response was seen at Mote Park in Maidstone at around 8.20am after the incident in Market Buildings, just off the High Street.

A yellow helicopter landed on the field close to the café.

It was joined by paramedics, three ambulances and a support car at the Mote Road location.

The emergency services were called to the field after a pedestrian was hit by a van outside a street of shops between High Street and Earl Street.

A police spokesman said: “Kent Police was called at 8.20am following a collision involving a van and a female pedestrian in Market Buildings, Maidstone.

“Officers and ambulance crews attended and the woman was taken to a London hospital with serious injuries.

“The driver of the vehicle stopped after the collision. The road was temporary closed but has now reopened.”

An ambulance spokesman explained: “SECAmb were called to reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle near the Market Buildings in Maidstone.

“Crews assessed and treated the pedestrian at the scene for injuries including a head injury, before being joined by the air ambulance.

“The patient was then airlifted to Kings College Hospital in London for further medical treatment.”

An air ambulance spokesman added: “A helicopter was dispatched to Maidstone on May 14.

“Our crew arrived on scene at 09.08am where they worked with SECAmb and Kent Police to help treat the patient, involved in a road traffic collision.
