Firefighters put out flames in flat on St Catherine's Road, Maidstone

A person had to be given medical treatment after a fire took hold in a flat.

Emergency services were called out to St Catherine's Road in Maidstone at 11am today.

Three fire engines and an ambulance were sent.

One person was treated by paramedics for smoke inhalation and the fire service said the incident was over by 11.45am.

The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
