A frustrated estate agent has spoken out to end seedy speculation that a house was used as a porn studio or brothel, owing to its unusual layout.

The £260,000 property in Hardy Street, Maidstone became the subject of sordid speculation after stories published on the websites of the Daily Mail and Metro pointed its two ground floor showers.

The articles included the seedy theories posted online that the house had been used to make adult films or was formerly a brothel.

Reddit user Maethor_derien said "It was likely put in because they shot porn at one time there.

"An actual bathroom is too small to shoot porn so any shower scenes you see would be shot in a room like this.

"That is also why the shower windows/doors are clear instead of frosted glass like a standard shower uses."

An agent for Page & Wells, who did not want to be named, was frustrated by the rumours.

"Quite honestly it's disgraceful how people's imaginations run wild on these things," he said.

"As far as we're aware it's an executor sale which means someone has passed away.

"I believe an elderly lady lived there with her family and that shower was put in what would have been a dining room because stairs became an issue for her.

"The shower in the kitchen hasn't been functional for many years.

"It's shameful because that's someone's relative's house and there isn't anything untoward about it."
