Ex-chief of superbug trust fights for £150,000

FIGHTING ON: Rose Gibb's lawyers say she is entitled to the full sum of a year's salary

DISGRACED hospital boss Rose Gibb is set to turn down a £75,000 pay-off, and fight for at least double that figure.

Miss Gibb, the former chief executive of the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust, was offered the settlement on January 24.

But her union has revealed that it is battling on her behalf to secure a larger settlement, understood to be at least £150,000.

She left her job by "mutual consent" last October, but the negotiating position changed five days later, when a damning Healthcare Commission report into C-diff infections at the trust's hospitals, was published.

When a settlement for her departure was agreed – close to publication of the report – the board agreed to pay just more than a year's salary.

The trust later said that after taking legal advice, they would only pay the minimum legal entitlement of six months pay.

But her union, Managers In Partnership (MiP), said it will continue to fight for the full amount.

MiP chief executive Jon Restell said: "Our lawyers have advised us that she is entitled to the full sum originally determined by the trust."
