Mayor of Maidstone Marion Ring pays tribute to our Armed Forces

The Mayor of Maidstone and some of her councillors donned their full regalia on Monday at a ceremony to mark Armed Forces Day.

A special Armed Forces flag was raised on a temporary flag-pole outside the Town Hall in Jubilee Square, which was later transferred to the main flag-pole atop the building.

The Mayor, Cllr Marion Ring, was accompanied by Nadra Ahmed, a Deputy Lieutenant of Kent, as well as by the council's chief executive Alison Broom, Chief Inspector Ray Quiller of Maidstone Police, Major Barker of 36 Engineer Regiment, representatives from Barming, Chart Sutton, Downswood, Langley and Staplehurst Parish Councils and past Mayors Richard Thick and John Horne.

Also in attendance were members of the 124 Transportation Squadron, 220 (1st Home Counties Field Ambulance RAMC) Assn Members, Maidstone Sea Cadets and the WAAFS, while Kevin Ashman, a Salvation Army bugler played reveille.
