A police helicopter, fire crews and paramedics were scrambled to help search for a person who was spotted in the River Medway.
Officers were called to the waterway near St Peter's Street, Maidstone at 2.50pm.
It came after they received reports of a person in the river.
The helicopter scoured the area for about half-an-hour but then the search was called off.
A force spokesman said the person had not been located.
