A pensioner died after being found suffocated on a hospital floor, an inquest has heard.
Housewife Phillippa Vickers, from Staplehurst, had been admitted to Maidstone Hospital after suffering from confusion and anxiety and an increase in weight loss.
Just after 5am on April 26, a nurse on duty found the 76-year-old lying on the floor in her cubicle.
Resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful and she was pronounced dead shortly after, an inquest opening at the Archbishop's Palace in Maidstone was told.
Her body was identified by police and the cause of death was given as cerebral hypoxia due to suffocation and acute onset dementia.
A full inquest was adjourned until July 22.
