Huge fire on Langley farm

Fire crews tackled a huge blaze thought to involve several removal lorries.

The fire broke out on a farm in Langley, near Maidstone. It was brought under control just after 10pm.

KMTV reporter Kristina Curtis is at the scene and has spoken to landowner Peter Lampard.

He said he was alerted to the fire when a friend burst into his house to warn him just after 9pm.

"I had been sitting indoors keeping warm reading the paper, with my two dogs and a cat for company. He said 'there's a fire up the top'.

"I had heard the emergency services go past but that's a common thing on this road. I went outside and was confronted with a big blaze."

Mr Lampard said removal lorries were parked on the land, which he hired out to tenants. The extent of the damage is not yet known.
