Two fire engines attended to deal with the blaze. No injuries were reported and the cause has been linked to an electircal fault with a pylon.

This has caused a power outage for the surrounding area, with UK Power Networks saying at least 15 postcodes have been affected.

The company says it is investigating a high voltage overhead electricity line fault which caused a power cut in the local area.

Power was restored at 4.39pm.

A spokesman for UK Power Network said: "UK Power Networks’ engineers worked quickly and safely to restore power supplies to customers in the Warmlake Road area of Sutton Valance, Maidstone.

"Power was interrupted to 1,665 customers at 12.24pm and engineers restored most supplies in stages by 3.11pm, with final supplies restored by 4.17pm. We apologise for the inconvenience caused.

"The cause of the fire will be investigated."

The incident comes as Kent Fire and Rescue Service revealed it attended more than 400 grass fires and wildfires so far this year, in comparison to just 44 in 2021.
