Krispy Kreme shuts Maidstone store less than a year after opening in The Mall

Maidstone's first ever Krispy Kreme has shut up shop less than a year after it opened.

The doughnut giant arrived in the County Town last May, setting up in The Mall.

Ten months later it has closed, citing poor sales as the driving reason.

A statement from Krispy Kreme's Twitter account read: "We continually evaluate the performance of our UK stores and as part of this process, we found that visits to our Maidstone store were at a lower level than expected and after a great deal of consideration we took the decision to close."

Stores are still open in Bluewater and Tunbridge Wells.
