Lanes of M20 blocked between junction 5, Maidstone, and junction 4, Leybourne due to crash

Two lanes of the M20 were blocked for an hour due to a crash involving a car and a HGV.

Officers were at the scene along the Londonbound carriageway of the M20 between junction 5 for Maidstone and junction 4 for Leybourne.

Recovery vehicles cleared the vehicles to a place of safety and all lanes re-opened at around midday.

Emergency services were at the scene but no injuries have been reported.

Traffic at one stage was tailing back along the road with Highways England reporting delays of at least 30 minutes.

Driver were advised to approach with caution and expect delays in the area.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 11.05am on Wednesday 13 November regarding a collision involving a lorry and a car on the westbound carriageway of the M20 between junctions 5 and 4.

"Officers attended and worked with Highways England traffic officers to clear the carriageway. "
