A man has appeared in court accused of two counts of dangerous driving because he was said to be masturbating while at the wheel.
Plamen Paunov is accused of doing so twice, on two separate occasions, in April and May, including when he was driving on a busy motorway.
The 44-year-old, who is originally from Bulgaria, was said to be at the wheel of his Ford Transit van driving on the London-bound carriageway of the M2, between junction 7 for Brenley Corner and junction 5 for the A249 Stockbury roundabout on April 4.
It is also alleged he was masturbating on May 16 on Detling Hill while at the wheel of the same vehicle.
Paunov, of Leeds Road, Sutton Valence, was charged with two counts of dangerous driving and two of outraging public decency in relation to the alleged incidents.
He denied all four allegations when he appeared in the dock at Medway Magistrates’ Court last Friday (June 6).
Victoria Aked, prosecuting, said: “The offences are alleged to have happened in two separate areas of the county, including on a motorway where the defendant is said to have been seen masturbating while driving in his vehicle.”
The court also heard the matters could be heard during a summary trial held at the magistrates’ court and granted Paunov bail until then.
He will stand trial over the matters at Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on December 18.
