A Chatham man has been bailed following reports of a serious sexual assault at a hotel.

Police were called to the Grange Moor Hotel in Maidstone on Saturday after reports a woman had been the victim of a serious sexual assault.

Eyewitnesses saw police inside the hotel on St Michael's Road between 1am and 2am.

Staff at the hotel confirmed police had been inside, but could not comment further.

A 25-year-old from Chatham was arrested and bailed until September 4.
