Man found dead at The Mall shopping centre in Maidstone near Iceland entrance

A man has died at a town centre shopping centre after suffering a cardiac arrest.

Police and paramedics were seen at the Iceland entrance of The Mall shopping centre in Maidstone yesterday.

A spokesman from Kent Police said: "At around 1.10pm on Sunday officers attended The Mall shopping centre to assist South East Coast Ambulance Service with a medical incident."

Four paramedic cars and an ambulance were sent out.

Bystanders and ambulance crews carried out CPR on the patient, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The area outside Iceland was screened off during the incident, blocking the nearest entrance by the shopping centre's toilets.

A statement from The Mall read: "We can confirm that a deceased male has been found at The Mall.

"The police are dealing with the incident and we are offering our full support.

"Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the individual concerned."

Police left the scene at 3.20pm.
