Maidstone: Police appeal after man hit by car

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was seriously injured when he was hit by a 4x4.

The man in his 30s was outside a shop in Barton Road, Maidstone, at its junction with Loose Road when he was knocked down.

The car, which is described as a red 4x4 vehicle, left the scene before police arrived.

The victim was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The incident happened at around 7.50pm last Thursday. A 51-year-old man from Maidstone and a 25-year-old man of no fixed address have since been arrested on suspicion of assault and bailed to return to the police station on Friday, December 22.

The victim is said to know those arrested.
