A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder following a disturbance last week.

A woman, thought to be Mr Matthews' mother, was taken to a London hospital after last week's incident where her condition was described as stable.

Eyewitnesses claimed they saw the victim being stretchered from a property at the corner of Tonbridge Road and Terminus Road wearing a neck brace.

Mr Matthews was due to appear in court last Thursday, however he was taken ill in custody and his appearance was delayed.

The 41-year-old did not enter a plea at today's hearing and was remanded in custody.

He will appear at Maidstone Crown Court on February 18.
