Police were called after receiving reports a man had fallen into the River Medway.

Officers arrived at the scene, close to Broadway, which runs over the river in Maidstone, at around 3pm yesterday.

Witnesses say part of the area was cordoned off and several police cars were there.

Paramedics also attended and the man was assessed and treated at the scene before being taken to Maidstone Hospital for further checks.

His condition is not life threatening.
